Critter Camp is Boldly Going Where We’ve Never Gone Before – Urgently!
We need to raise $300,000 for a stand alone rescue building as fast as we can.
Our continuing mission depends on YOU!
About us: Critter Camp fills a unique niche here in the United States. It is the ONLY exotic pet rescue of its kind that is USDA licensed and volunteer operated accepting only unadoptable small and unusual pets. (The USDA inspects facilities without advance notice, so staying on top of things is a daily matter.) As we are 100% volunteer operated your donation goes that much farther. The animals we take in are elderly, chronically ill and/or aggressive pets (no cats, dogs, wildlife, or farm animals): ferrets, foxes, lizards, ratties, hedgehogs, birds, etc. often slated for euthanasia, some even being found literally in the trash. And we accept them from across the country, freeing up space at animal control and humane society facilities so those enterprises can continue to serve their local communities.
We’ve been in operation since January 2004, and we want (and need!) to celebrate our 20th anniversary in a new stand alone building.
The good news is that our nonprofit corporation already owns the land that the new building will occupy. It is zoned for a shelter and has been perk tested so a well and septic tank can be installed. And it will forever belong to the rescue, no matter who succeeds me (Beth Randall, Founder and President) in the future.
THE URGENCY IS REAL. As you probably are already aware (our members and volunteers certainly are), I’ve had a series of medical issues in recent years, and although I’ve always worked through them, no one is immortal. So, before we encounter an insurmountable crisis, we need to build a standalone sanctuary that isn’t on my property or in my home so others can carry on the mission when I’m no longer able to do it. Add to this the fact that having the rescue in my home tripled my homeowners insurance this year alone even though the rescue carries its own liability insurance. That kind of breathtaking surprise is wildly unsustainable for me. And after close to 18 years of never-ending animal care, it’s certainly time to upgrade to a new space where our critters can thrive even as it showcases our dogged determination to keep them happy, healthy, well fed, and abundantly loved and spoiled for the rest of their lives.
“$300,000 is a lot of money.”
Yes. That’s why we’re asking for your help!
$300,000 is attainable by breaking it down into right-size, bite-size chunks.
Examples: It would take just 300 critter-loving individuals (or businesses) donating $1000 each to reach this goal. Or 3000 individuals donating $100.00. Or 6000 donating $50.00. You get the idea. If we all work together, we can do this!
No donation is too small. And every single dollar helps a critter (or two, or three)!
Here are ways to help:
Donate – Dig DEEP! It’s Now or Never!
Offer matching donations. If you can donate, how about offering it as a matching donation? Doing it this way doubles your gift by encouraging others to give! Tell us via the Contact Us form on our website www.CritterCamp.org or messaging us through our Facebook page. This can be done anonymously or credit given.

Here’s what YOUR donation, in any amount, will help us create and maintain for present and future residents of Critter Camp:
• A home-like, welcoming animal rescue facility built to efficiently maintain the health and wellness (both physical and mental) of the exotic animals we care for • A secure, eco-friendly environment that will be as close to carbon neutral as we can make it • Help for the professionals who will be building the facility, parking lot, landscaping, and perimeter fencing (if these services aren’t 100% donated by the companies and then written off as tax donations)
To reiterate, this fundraiser is urgent. We simply can’t “make it so” without you.
Thank you eternally for whatever you can (and will) do to help us reach our goal. Many Thanks to Kris Smith, Author and Lisa Taylor, Designer for their help with this campaign!

- We are a sanctuary and will never turn away or prematurely euthanize any animal for being old, ugly, sick, or ill-tempered, no matter what outside pressures are brought to bear. Every animal brought to Critter Camp will be provided with comfortable living quarters and veterinary treatment until it is in that animal's best interest to be provided with end of life care.
- Our current Board of Directors may be small, but it is also agile, effective, and focused on the best interests of the animals in our charge.
- We are proud of our current environment but are always seeking better ways to care for the animals we serve. To that end, we will be aggressively seeking new sponsors to assist us in constructing the new building we desperately need.
